Does Calm train on your data?
Calm holds what you use to sleep and what you tell it about your mood. Its privacy policy does not mention AI, machine learning or training anywhere.
A meditation and sleep app knows when you cannot sleep and what you reach for when you cannot. The privacy policy contains no form of "train", no "machine learning", no "artificial intelligence" and no bare "AI"; its single "model" is your phone's hardware model. On whether any of it trains anything, the document is silent. What it does say is adjacent. It twice disclaims inference from health data — "we do not infer any health-related characteristics from this information", of sleep data arriving from Apple HealthKit or Google Health Connect — and it carries a section headed "Information We Infer or Generate When You Use the Services". Inferring things about you at the point of use is not training a model on you, so neither answers the question; a reader who finds them will ask, and the honest answer is that the silence is on training specifically.

How to opt out of Calm AI training
Plan by plan, from what Calm's own policy says about refusing. Where it publishes the steps, they're listed here with the limits they carry. Where there's nothing to switch off, or nothing graded, this says so instead of inventing a menu path.

What this policy has done since we started watching
No change detected. We've held a copy of Calm's policy since 30 Aug 2026 and re-read it since, across 2 captures. The text hasn't moved in a way that touches this verdict. That's a fact about the document, and it's only knowable by having kept the earlier copies.
