How to stop Netflix training AI on your data
What the policy itself says, plan by plan. Where Netflix publishes the steps, they're here in its own words, read from an archived copy of the page that gives them. Where it doesn't, this page says so instead of inventing a menu path.
All plans
Netflix has described recommendation as central to its business for years, and its privacy statement is 57,000 characters long. It contains no form of "train", no "machine learning", no "artificial intelligence" and no bare "AI". It's specific about what it collects, including what you watch and when you pause. It says nothing about what's built from it. The help centre's page on how recommendations work, read on 23 September 2026, comes closer. Netflix takes feedback from every visit, what you start, finish and rate, and uses those signals to "continually update our algorithms", alongside what members with similar tastes watch. That's a system that learns from viewing, described without the words train, model or machine learning. The only control the help centre names is hiding a title from your viewing history, which stops that title feeding recommendations. Whether any of this is training in the sense this site asks about isn't stated, so the entry stays UNCLEAR and Netflix is asked.
