How to stop Reddit training AI on your data
What the policy itself says, plan by plan. Where Reddit publishes the steps, they're here in its own words, read from an archived copy of the page that gives them. Where it doesn't, this page says so instead of inventing a menu path.
All accounts
Effective 1 July 2026, and in 47,000 characters it uses "train" not once. Neither "machine learning" nor "artificial intelligence" appears at all, and "model" appears zero times. "AI" appears exactly once, in the sentence quoted here — which tells you your public posts may turn up in ChatGPT's answers, framed as where your words can end up rather than as something Reddit does with them. Alongside it the policy says Reddit "require[s] third parties to pay licensing fees for access to larger quantities of content and information", which describes the commercial arrangement without saying what those parties may do with what they buy. Both sentences circle the question. Neither answers it, and no sentence in the document does.
