How to stop xAI (Grok) training AI on your data
What the policy itself says, plan by plan. Where xAI (Grok) publishes the steps, they're here in its own words, read from an archived copy of the page that gives them. Where it doesn't, this page says so instead of inventing a menu path.
All accounts (Grok consumer)
Where xAI (Grok) says the switch is, in its own words. Each list is read from a dated, archived copy of the page it links to. Menus move. If a step is out of date, tell us at the foot of this page.
- Open Settings, then Data Controls.
- Deselect "Improve the model".
"On the mobile app, to select or deselect using your content for model training, go to Settings, Data Controls, and select or deselect "Improve the model.""
New conversations only. Feedback you give can still be used, and Grok used without logging in has no switch outside the EU and UK. Private Chat (the ghost icon) is the other route xAI names.
- Open Settings, then Data.
- Deselect "Improve the Model".
"For the Grok.com website, you can go to Settings, Data, and then "Improve the Model" to select whether your content is used for model training."
"To develop and improve our Service and to conduct research: For example to develop new product features, to train our models, to identify usage trends, to operate and expand our business activities, to identify new customers, and for data analysis."
Did a step here not work, or does xAI (Grok) offer a control this page doesn't mention? Tell us and we'll correct it.
