How to stop Backblaze training AI on your data
What the policy itself says, plan by plan. Where Backblaze publishes the steps, they're here in its own words, read from an archived copy of the page that gives them. Where it doesn't, this page says so instead of inventing a menu path.
All plans
Backblaze's product copies whole machines, which makes it the holder of everything on them. Its privacy policy contains no form of "train", no "machine learning", no "artificial intelligence" and no bare "AI", and no statement about whether it can read what it stores. It does say why. "This Privacy Notice, as stated at the outset, only applies to the information collected in respect of your account and not to the content that you store on our system", and for that content "Backblaze is the processor and the person or organization owning the Backblaze account is the controller". The document scopes your files out of itself rather than answering for them — a structural absence, not an oversight — which is why the question of what Backblaze can do with what it stores has no home in this notice at all.
