How to stop Microsoft Copilot training AI on your data

What the policy itself says, plan by plan. Where Microsoft Copilot publishes the steps, they're here in its own words, read from an archived copy of the page that gives them. Where it doesn't, this page says so instead of inventing a menu path.

All consumer accounts (Copilot with a Microsoft account)

Where Microsoft Copilot says the switch is, in its own words. Each list is read from a dated, archived copy of the page it links to. Menus move. If a step is out of date, tell us at the foot of this page.

  2. Select Privacy.
  3. Turn off Training on conversation activity, and Training on voice conversations if you use voice.
"Select your profile icon, select your profile name, then select Privacy > Training on conversation activity"

Future conversations only. Microsoft offers the switch only when you're signed in, and, until September 2026, said it trained "in some markets" without naming them; that sentence has since left the statement.
