How to stop Gemini training AI on your data
What the policy itself says, plan by plan. Where Gemini publishes the steps, they're here in its own words, read from an archived copy of the page that gives them. Where it doesn't, this page says so instead of inventing a menu path.
All personal accounts (Gemini app and web)
Where Gemini says the switch is, in its own words. Each list is read from a dated, archived copy of the page it links to. Menus move. If a step is out of date, tell us at the foot of this page.
- Open Gemini Apps Activity, from the menu in Gemini or at myactivity.google.com.
- Turn off Keep Activity. Future chats are then not used to improve Google's AI unless you send feedback.
- For a single conversation, start a temporary chat instead. Temporary chats are not used to train Google's AI models.
"To stop your future chats from being reviewed to improve Google services, turn off your Keep Activity setting."
"Google uses your activity to provide, develop, and improve its services (including training generative AI models), as well as to protect Google, its users, and the public with the help of human reviewers. Data reviewed by service providers is disconnected from your account and saved for 3 years."
Did a step here not work, or does Gemini offer a control this page doesn't mention? Tell us and we'll correct it.
