Does Hugging Face train on your data?
Hugging Face says it does not train on user data, and publishes that only for its inference routing. For what you upload to the Hub, the privacy policy still says nothing.
Hugging Face's privacy policy contains no form of "train", no "machine learning" and no "artificial intelligence" anywhere in the capture, re-checked live on 26 Aug 2026 and still true. For the company whose platform hosts a large share of the world's open models, and whose users upload datasets and model weights, the absence of any statement about what it does with that content is the finding. Asked on 19 Aug, Hugging Face replied on 25 Aug that it "does not store any user data for training purposes" and cited two documents. That sentence is real and published — but it appears in the Inference Providers security page, and the sentence immediately after it sets its scope: "We do not store the request body or response when routing requests through Hugging Face." It is a commitment about routing inference requests, not about the models, datasets and Spaces users upload. The privacy policy they also cited contains nothing on the subject at all. So the listing stays UNCLEAR: the question was answered for one feature and left open for the platform.

How to opt out of Hugging Face AI training
Plan by plan, from what Hugging Face's own policy says about refusing. Where it publishes the steps, they're listed here with the limits they carry. Where there's nothing to switch off, or nothing graded, this says so instead of inventing a menu path.
All accounts
Not graded, so no route is pointed at. What this policy has done since we started watching
The record starts here. Hugging Face's 2 documents were first captured on 14 Aug 2026, and there's no earlier copy to compare them against, so this verdict has no history behind it yet. From now on every re-read is diffed against those copies, and anything that moves appears here.
