How to stop Strava training AI on your data

What the policy itself says, plan by plan. Where Strava publishes the steps, they're here in its own words, read from an archived copy of the page that gives them. Where it doesn't, this page says so instead of inventing a menu path.

Where Strava says the switch is, in its own words. Each list is read from a dated, archived copy of the page it links to. Menus move. If a step is out of date, tell us at the foot of this page.

Web and app
  1. Open Settings, then Privacy Controls.
  2. Under Product Improvements, switch off contributing your data.
"Users can decide whether to contribute information for these uses through privacy settings on both web and mobile, under " Product Improvements .""

The same control sits under Privacy Controls in the app. Strava lists "Build smarter AI features" among the uses it covers.

The clause the switch answers

"We use information to enhance the quality, reliability, and/or accuracy of our AI Features by creating, developing, training, testing, improving, and maintaining AI and ML models run by Strava or our service providers. We use aggregated, de-identified information for AI Features where possible for their purpose."
