How to stop WhatsApp training AI on your data
What the policy itself says, plan by plan. Where WhatsApp publishes the steps, they're here in its own words, read from an archived copy of the page that gives them. Where it doesn't, this page says so instead of inventing a menu path.
Personal messages and calls (all accounts)
There is nothing to opt out of. WhatsApp's own policy says it can't reach the content, so training on it isn't something a setting controls.
"As always, your personal messages and calls are end-to-end encrypted. No one else, not even WhatsApp, can read or listen to them."
AI at Meta features inside WhatsApp (optional)
The route WhatsApp gives, in its own words. There's no switch, so this is a request it has said it will act on. Each list is read from a dated, archived copy of the page it links to. If the address or form has moved, tell us at the foot of this page.
- Open facebook.com/privacy/genai/ and, under "You have rights related to how your information is used for AI at Meta", follow the WhatsApp link to the objection form.
- Submit the objection about your messages with AIs on WhatsApp.
- Meta emails a confirmation; an objection made after a training run has started applies to future runs.
"You can also submit an objection request through your WhatsApp account about your messages with AIs on WhatsApp being used to develop and improve AI at Meta."
