This is an extract from an archived copy, fetched 10 September 2026. Opera didn't author this page for us. It's a snapshot we captured from https://help.opera.com/en/browser-ai-faq/. We hold the whole page and publish this part of it: the sentence a verdict rests on, with the text either side, so you can see it hasn't been lifted out of an exception.

The passage, in context

Paragraph 168 of 170

Who has access to my chats?

Chat history is encrypted and stored on Opera's servers for one year if you're signed into your Opera Account. OpenAI servers also keep anonymized (not connected to your identity) parts of chats for 30 days. Google servers only store anonymized parts of chats for as long as needed to generate the requested output, and no longer than 24 hours.

Does Opera AI use information that I provide to train AI models?

No, Opera AI does not use information that you provide in the AI chat, nor the content of websites that you are browsing, to train AI models.

Which laws govern the usage of my data?

Opera AI is provided by Opera Norway AS, a company registered and headquartered in Oslo, Norway. Opera Norway AS acts as the primary data controller for all Opera products and services. Therefore the processing of your data is governed by General Data Protection Regulation (or "GDPR"), which applies in the European Union as well as in Norway. To understand more about how we process your data, please read our Privacy Statement .

Checking the rest of it

The complete page is kept here and isn't republished. It's Opera's copyrighted document, and an extract is what a reader needs to check a quotation. The SHA-256 above is of that whole snapshot: fetch the page yourself, hash it, and you can tell whether ours has been altered without having to trust us.

If you work for Opera, or you are researching this and need the full capture, ask us for it and we will send it. If you believe a quote here is wrong or out of date, send us the paragraph. The correction gets published beside the clause.
