Privacy Notice for Samsung Chatbot, Text and Video Chat This Privacy Notice is supplemental to Samsung's general privacy policy at www.samsung.com/uk/info/privacy ("GPP") and explains the privacy practices of Samsung Electronics Samsung Electronics (UK) Limited, a company incorporated under the laws of England and headquartered at Samsung House, 2000 Hillswood Drive, Chertsey, Surrey KT16 0RS (together "Samsung", "we", "us", "our") with respect to the information collected by Samsung for the purposes of operating our customer support Chatbot, as well as providing the facility by which customers can chat directly with members of the Samsung customer support team by either video or text chat. This Privacy Notice provides details about how your personal information will be collected, used, shared, and stored by Samsung when operating our Chatbot, and should always be read together with the GPP. In case of any inconsistency or conflict between the terms of this Privacy Notice and the GPP, the terms of this Privacy Notice shall prevail. Samsung Electronics (UK) Ltd acts as data controller for the processing of your personal data. What types of information will Samsung collect about you? When you use the Chatbot, text or video chat or communicate with us through WhatsApp, we may collect the following categories of information: Name Phone number Email address Service Order number (if applicable) Model number of device Details of your query Where you have logged in to the Chatbot whilst already logged in to your Samsung Account, we will combine personal data we collected on you through your Samsung Account to better understand your identity and the nature of your query. When you use text chat, we will retain a copy of the chat following your discussion with us. When you use video chat, we will also collect video and audio recordings of your chat. How is the collected information used? Samsung will use the collected information described above for the following purposes: To administer the running and operation of the Chatbot, video and text chat (including chat by WhatsApp) services; To analyse use of the Chatbot, video and text chat services; In relation to video and audio recordings of your video chat - for training and quality control purposes Samsung's legal basis to process personal data includes processing that is: necessary for the performance of the contract between you and Samsung (for example, to provide you the Chatbot); necessary to comply with legal requirements (for example, to comply with applicable accounting rules and to make mandatory disclosures to law enforcement) and necessary for Samsung's legitimate interests (for example, to manage our relationship with you and to improve the operation of the Chatbot). How can you delete information obtained by Samsung? You may contact Samsung's data protection team at dataprotection.seuk@samsung.com to request that your personal data is deleted. To whom do we disclose your personal information? We may disclose your information internally within our business to the relevant teams such as, without limitation, the customer services team, the legal team, and where you have chosen to receive marketing messages, the marketing teams. We may also share your personal data with third party service providers who assist us in providing video and text chat services to you. We do this in a manner which is compliant with data protection legislation. Please note that we may also share your personal data with other members of the Samsung Electronics Group of companies (including our parent company, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, based in the Republic of Korea), where this is relevant. How We Protect Your Personal Information We maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect the personal information we obtain through Samsung against unlawful or unauthorised destruction, interference, loss, alteration, access, disclosure, or use. However, please note that despite our reasonable efforts to protect your information, no system or wireless connection is completely secure. International Data Transfer Your use of Samsung Chatbot and video and text chat services may involve the transfer, storage, and processing of your information outside of your country of residence, consistent with this policy. Such countries may include, without limitation, the Republic of Korea. Please note that the data protection and other laws of countries to which your information may be transferred might not be as comprehensive as those in your country. We will take appropriate measures, in compliance with applicable law, to ensure that your personal information remains protected. A copy of these clauses can be obtained by contacting us as specified in the How to Contact Us section of this Privacy Notice. Retention of Personal Data We take appropriate steps to ensure that information about you is only retained based on the following logic: at least the duration for which the information is used to provide you with the Chatbot/ video/ text chat related services); as required under law, a contract, or with regard to our statutory obligations; or only for as long as is necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, is processed, or longer if required under any contract, by applicable law, or for statistical purposes, subject to appropriate safeguards. Any text chats and video recordings will be held for a maximum of 12 months from recording in any event. Your Rights and Choices You are entitled, in accordance with applicable law, to object to or request restriction of the processing of your personal information, to exercise your right of data portability and to request access to, rectification, or removal of your own personal information. You may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority if you consider that our processing of your personal data infringes applicable law. The relevant supervisory authority for the UK is the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
