This is an extract from an archived copy, fetched 30 August 2026. Shopify didn't author this page for us. It's a snapshot we captured from https://www.shopify.com/legal/privacy. We hold the whole page and publish this part of it: the sentence a verdict rests on, with the text either side, so you can see it hasn't been lifted out of an exception.
The entry cited this capture from 30 August 2026 until 7 September 2026, when the document was re-read; it now cites the capture of 7 September 2026. This page stays so that anything that linked it still works.
The passage, in context
Our use of Machine Learning One of the ways in which we are able to help merchants using Shopify is by using techniques like "machine learning" (some laws, including certain EEA and UK laws, may refer to this as "automated decision-making") to help us improve our services. When we use machine learning, we either: (1) still have a human being involved in the process (and so are not fully automated); or (2) use machine learning in ways that don't have legal or similarly significant effects (for example, reordering how apps might appear when you visit the app store).

Checking the rest of it
The complete page is kept here and isn't republished. It's Shopify's copyrighted document, and an extract is what a reader needs to check a quotation. The SHA-256 above is of that whole snapshot: fetch the page yourself, hash it, and you can tell whether ours has been altered without having to trust us.
If you work for Shopify, or you are researching this and need the full capture, ask us for it and we will send it. If you believe a quote here is wrong or out of date, send us the paragraph. The correction gets published beside the clause.
