This is an extract from an archived copy, fetched 10 September 2026. Sudowrite didn't author this page for us. It's a snapshot we captured from https://sudowrite.com/faq. We hold the whole page and publish this part of it: the sentence a verdict rests on, with the text either side, so you can see it hasn't been lifted out of an exception.

The passage, in context

Paragraph 15 of 30

Can Sudowrite plagiarize? The short answer is, Sudowrite won't plagiarize unless you explicitly force it to plagiarize, which is against our terms of service. The AI works by guessing one word at a time, based on general concepts it has learned from billions of samples of text. So it's extremely unlikely to produce the same words verbatim, or even ever again. It does not copy and paste chunks of text, it guesses each word (technically, parts of words), one at a time. The only way to get Sudowrite to plagiarize is to put in text it's seen before verbatim, like the lyrics of an popular song, or the first paragraph of an extremely popular book like Harry Potter. As long as your own writing is original, you'll get more original writing out of Sudowrite. We encourage you to try plagiarism checkers to verify your results.

Is this cheating? Sudowrite is a tool for creativity. It's not intended to write for you, but can help you vastly improve and speed up your writing. Just as a great writing partner can help you bust through when you're stuck or be a sounding board to bounce ideas off of, Sudowrite makes writing more fun, faster, and less solitary.

What public language models does Sudowrite use and how were they trained? We use dozens of AI models, including the latest Claude models by Anthropic, multiple open source models, in-house models made expressly for fiction, like Muse , and several models created by OpenAI. We pair these models with a variety of proprietary narrative model-based and algorithmic pre- and post-processing to enable AI writing features not available anywhere else.

Does Sudowrite use my writing to train models? We are constantly listening to writers' feedback to improve Sudowrite. However, we do not use your writing to train AI models.

Before I sign up, how do I cancel? It's easy. Go to your subscription page and hit cancel. No phone calls, no nonsense.

If I cancel, do I lose access to what I've written in Sudowrite? You can always access and work on your projects in Sudowrite, but won't be able to use AI features without a paid plan. We will never hold your writing hostage.

Checking the rest of it

The complete page is kept here and isn't republished. It's Sudowrite's copyrighted document, and an extract is what a reader needs to check a quotation. The SHA-256 above is of that whole snapshot: fetch the page yourself, hash it, and you can tell whether ours has been altered without having to trust us.

If you work for Sudowrite, or you are researching this and need the full capture, ask us for it and we will send it. If you believe a quote here is wrong or out of date, send us the paragraph. The correction gets published beside the clause.
