How to stop QuillBot training AI on your data
What the policy itself says, plan by plan. Where QuillBot publishes the steps, they're here in its own words, read from an archived copy of the page that gives them. Where it doesn't, this page says so instead of inventing a menu path.
Website tools (free and individual Premium)
The opt-out isn't self-service. Contact support directly, reference the clause quoted above and keep a copy of the response.
"AI Models and Training Data. We may use all of the data we collect (including your personal data) to train our algorithms, AI models and AI products and for Services using machine learning to develop, improve and provide the Services."
Browser extension 4.37.0 or later (account-holders)
Where QuillBot says the switch is, in its own words. Each list is read from a dated, archived copy of the page it links to. Menus move. If a step is out of date, tell us at the foot of this page.
- Click the QuillBot extension icon to open Extension Settings, or open the Popup Menu.
- Click View All Settings.
- Open the Data and Privacy menu and switch off the control for using your text inputs to train the models.
"To make or change your opt-out choices, open your Extension Settings or Popup Menu , click on View All Settings , and navigate to the Data and Privacy menu."
The training control is offered to account-holders only; the storage control to everyone. Storage is on by default for all; the training default for a new account-holder is not stated.
"For extensions users on versions 4.37.0 or above, we offer two data controls to opt out of: (1) allowing Quillbot to store text inputs (all users) and (2) allowing Quillbot to use text inputs to train the models that power our AI tools (available to account-holders)."
Team Plan (paid)
Nothing to switch off: QuillBot's policy says training is off here.
"When you use Quillbot's premium services with a Team Plan, we will use and store your inputs to provide our Services as described in this policy, but we will not use your text inputs for the purposes of training our AI models ."
