Does Cartesia train on your data?
Cartesia trains on your content by default. You can refuse — but only by filling in a form, and only for what you send afterwards.
"You may request that we not use certain categories of your Content to train our models by completing this online form ."

How we read it: Two things make this worse than a settings toggle. The opt-out is an online form, not a control in the product, so refusing requires asking. And the policy is explicit that it does not reach backwards: once processed, it will not affect "any uses of your Content (or improvements to the models as a result) prior to that date". Anything already used, and any model already improved by it, stays. Marked retroactive because training covers content submitted before you object.
opt out, request, online form, train, certain categories, by default, default
What the document does offer
- "You may request that we not use certain categories of your Content to train our models by completing this online form" — a form, and scoped to "certain categories" which the policy does not enumerate
- "You may opt out of marketing emails using the opt-out or ‘unsubscribe’ instructions provided in the email" — marketing
- a Do Not Track / opt-out preference signal paragraph, describing browser mechanisms rather than a Cartesia control
- "default" appears zero times in the capture
Why none of it applies: The route is a request on a form rather than a setting, and it is qualified twice over: you may "request", and only as to "certain categories" of Content, which are never listed. So a reader cannot tell what the control covers, whether it will be granted, or what state their account is in now. That is the D — a real route, described in terms that leave the outcome open.

How to opt out of Cartesia AI training
Plan by plan, from what Cartesia's own policy says about refusing. Where it publishes the steps, they're listed here with the limits they carry. Where there's nothing to switch off, or nothing graded, this says so instead of inventing a menu path.

Yes, but not self-serve: Cartesia makes you contact support.
- Open Cartesia's opt-out form, a Google Form the policy links: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdINrWri7IZlHgbisA-jVmwbXfXPXHgBs6bRLSFvaJaxmM2-w/viewform.
- Choose the categories of Content you don't want used for training.
Cartesia says the opt-out covers future use only: nothing already used, or any model already improved with it, is affected.
What this policy has done since we started watching
The record starts here. Cartesia's policy was first captured on 14 Aug 2026, and there's no earlier copy to compare it against, so this verdict has no history behind it yet. From now on every re-read is diffed against that copy, and anything that moves appears here.

Vendor response
We wrote to Cartesia on 21 Aug 2026, quoting the clauses above and inviting a correction. Nothing has come back. That's published because a company declining to comment on its own policy is something a reader should know, and because the invitation should be on the record whether or not it's taken up. Any reply goes here, word for word.
