Does Udemy train on your data?
Udemy says it does not use your personal data to train or fine-tune generative AI models. Instructors' shared content is governed by a separate GenAI policy.
No opt-out found in this policy
"We may process your inputs into our generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) features using GenAI in order to respond to your question or request, but we do not use your personal data to train or fine tune GenAI models."

How we read it: The sentence is a plain denial for learners: inputs to the GenAI features are processed to answer them, "but we do not use your personal data to train or fine tune GenAI models". The purposes table separately lists improving the Services "including through the use of AI consistent with the Instructor GenAI Policy (Instructor Shared Content)", which concerns the course material instructors publish under a separate policy this site has not read; it is not a use of learners' data. How to opt out of Udemy AI training
Plan by plan, from what Udemy's own policy says about refusing. Where it publishes the steps, they're listed here with the limits they carry. Where there's nothing to switch off, or nothing graded, this says so instead of inventing a menu path.
Learners (all plans)
Nothing to switch off: Udemy's policy says training is off here.
What this policy has done since we started watching
No change detected. We've held a copy of Udemy's policy since 6 Sept 2026 and re-read it since, across 2 captures. The text hasn't moved in a way that touches this verdict. That's a fact about the document, and it's only knowable by having kept the earlier copies.

Vendor response
We wrote to Udemy on 11 Sept 2026, quoting the clauses above and inviting a correction. Nothing has come back. That's published because a company declining to comment on its own policy is something a reader should know, and because the invitation should be on the record whether or not it's taken up. Any reply goes here, word for word.
