Does MEGA train on your data?
MEGA says it cannot decrypt your files or chats, and excludes them from its privacy policy for that reason. Not a promise about what it does — a claim about what it can.

How we read it: Held to the four tests this site applies before granting an A, and it passes each: capability rather than intention ("cannot decrypt", not "do not use"); about MEGA rather than its staff or subprocessors; and no carve-out elsewhere — MEGA may hand files to authorities, but "even if those items are encrypted", which reinforces the claim rather than qualifying it. What the A does not cover, because the third test requires saying so: account data, usage data, IP address, device type and the metadata MEGA gathers about file type. MEGA holds all of that and this grade says nothing about it.

How to opt out of MEGA AI training
Plan by plan, from what MEGA's own policy says about refusing. Where it publishes the steps, they're listed here with the limits they carry. Where there's nothing to switch off, or nothing graded, this says so instead of inventing a menu path.
All plans (free and Pro)
There is nothing to opt out of. MEGA's own policy says it can't reach the content, so training on it isn't something a setting controls.
What this policy has done since we started watching
No change detected. We've held a copy of MEGA's policy since 30 Aug 2026 and re-read it since, across 2 captures. The text hasn't moved in a way that touches this verdict. That's a fact about the document, and it's only knowable by having kept the earlier copies.

We haven't yet written to MEGA about this verdict, and they haven't disputed, clarified or announced a change to any clause quoted above. When either happens it's published here, word for word.
