Does Barclays train on your data?
Barclays' full privacy notice says it may run your information through AI, including generative AI from outside providers. Whether your data trains anything, it doesn't say.
Re-read on 7 October 2026. The full privacy notice for personal banking, effective August 2026, is a PDF this entry hadn't read. It says Barclays may process your information "using big data analytics and artificial intelligence technology (BDAI tools), which could include generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) serviced by third-party providers". The purposes are managing risk, improving its service and preparing statistical analyses, some of them shared outside Barclays. That's AI used on your data. Whether your data trains a model, Barclays' or a provider's, the notice doesn't say. Its "train" and two "training" matches are about staff and call recording. The data-control page and the old privacy summary don't mention AI at all. Compare Monzo, which answers the question in two sentences, and Revolut, which answers it in one.

All five are in the full notice. "Artificial intelligence" (2) is the BDAI sentence, about processing your information with AI tools. "Train" (1) and "training" (2) are about training staff and recording calls. None says whether your data trains a model.

How to opt out of Barclays AI training
Plan by plan, from what Barclays's own policy says about refusing. Where it publishes the steps, they're listed here with the limits they carry. Where there's nothing to switch off, or nothing graded, this says so instead of inventing a menu path.

What this policy has done since we started watching
The record starts here. Barclays's policy was first captured on 17 Aug 2026, and there's no earlier copy to compare it against, so this verdict has no history behind it yet. From now on every re-read is diffed against that copy, and anything that moves appears here.
