Does HSBC train on your data?

HSBC's group privacy notice and its UK notice never mention AI, machine learning or model training. The one "train" in either is about staff.

UNCLEAR — THE POLICY DOES NOT PERMIT A DETERMINATION

Re-read on 7 October 2026. The UK privacy notice this entry couldn't reach in August is published as a PDF, effective January 2026, beside a separate notice for the mobile app. Neither mentions AI, machine learning or model training. The UK notice's one "train" is "Train our people", and the mobile notice's one "model" is your device's make and model. The group notice, in its newest copy, says nothing either. HSBC does say it uses automated systems for credit and fraud decisions. It doesn't say whether customer data trains them.

How to opt out of HSBC AI training

Plan by plan, from what HSBC's own policy says about refusing. Where it publishes the steps, they're listed here with the limits they carry. Where there's nothing to switch off, or nothing graded, this says so instead of inventing a menu path.
