Does Wispr Flow train on your data?

Wispr Flow's Privacy Mode is gone. The setting is now "Improve the model for everyone", and the promise that no third party would see your dictation went with the name.

How we read it: Changed on or before 24 Aug 2026, and the site holds both versions. Until 14 Aug the policy said Privacy Mode meant "none of your dictation data (audio, transcripts, edits) is used by Wispr or any third party to evaluate, train, or improve AI models", plus "zero dictation data" and "we keep nothing". All of it is gone. The control survives, renamed from a privacy frame to a benefit one — "Improve the model for everyone" — and the absolute exclusion is now permission: Wispr "may use" the same three things. The third-party undertaking was not weakened, it was dropped. Still D: the toggle is real and free. The default is still unstated — "default" appears nowhere, as before.

What the document does offer

  • on the page: "It lets you choose whether Wispr may use your Dictation data-audio, transcripts, and edits-to evaluate, train, or improve AI models. Manage this in Settings > Data and Privacy."
  • "You decide whether data can be used to train or improve our models" — stated twice, in the summary and again under Privacy built-in
  • "Privacy Mode": zero occurrences, where the 14 Aug capture used the term five times
  • "default": zero occurrences, in this capture and in the previous one

Why none of it applies: The control moved from Settings > Data & Privacy > Privacy Mode to Settings > Data and Privacy, under a question the page now asks itself: what is "Improve the model for everyone"? A toggle named for the benefit of leaving it on is a different object from one named for the protection of switching it on, even where the mechanism is identical. Nothing states which way it ships, in either version.

Plan by plan, from what Wispr Flow's own policy says about refusing. Where it publishes the steps, they're listed here with the limits they carry. Where there's nothing to switch off, or nothing graded, this says so instead of inventing a menu path.
