Gamma trains on your content on Free, Plus, Pro and Ultra unless you turn off a switch in Data Controls, and says it ships on. Team, Business and Enterprise are excluded.

How we read it: Corrected 2 October 2026 after Gamma replied. This page said the only way out was an objection by request, not a switch. That was wrong. Gamma's terms of use, dated 9 September 2025, make training the rule wherever you "do not have such privacy controls for AI training turned on". Its help centre names the switch, under Settings, then Data Controls, and says it ships on for individual plans. A switch whose default the documents state is a C. The privacy policy, the only document this entry had read, says none of it. The terms reach this site through the Internet Archive's copy of 13 September 2026, because gamma.app turns away automated readers.

CONTROLS SEARCHED FOR · 1 Oct 2026

opt out, opt-out, object, legitimate interest, settings, data control, train

What the document does offer

  • "Navigate to Account settings : click your avatar or initials in the lower-left corner of the Gamma dashboard, select Settings , then open the Data Controls tab." — the help centre, which adds "You can opt-out any time."
  • "If your plan does not include privacy controls for AI training or if you do not have such privacy controls for AI training turned on, you agree that we may ... use Your Content to train, improve and refine our models" — terms of use, section 4.5
  • "Object to our processing of your personal information where we are relying on Legitimate Interests" — the privacy policy, whose rights list is still the only route it names

Why none of it applies: The switch is in the terms and the help centre, not in the privacy policy. The terms make training the rule wherever the privacy control for AI training isn't turned on, and the help centre says the default for individual plans allows training and gives the path to the switch. The objection right in the privacy policy is still there, as a second route.

How we read it: Section 4.5 of the terms opens with the exclusion, and the help centre extends it to Enterprise and says the setting can't be switched on: "This setting is locked and cannot be changed." An undertaking, off by default, is a B. Not an A, because nothing says Gamma can't reach the content, only that it won't train on it.

What Gamma said when we showed them this

Corrected us29 Sept 2026
“The Team and Business controls are in our Terms of Use. Section 4.5 (AI Model Training) ... Section 4.7 covers our analytics licence and states that it "DOES NOT include using Your Content to train AI Models unless permitted under Section 4.5." ... By plan: Free, Plus, Pro and Ultra: training is on by default. Users can opt out themselves at any time in the application settings under "data control". No cost and no support request is needed. Team, Business and Enterprise: excluded from training automatically. The setting is locked and cannot be switched on.”

Printed exactly as it was sent, and unedited except where […] marks a cut.

How to opt out of Gamma AI training

Plan by plan, from what Gamma's own policy says about refusing. Where it publishes the steps, they're listed here with the limits they carry. Where there's nothing to switch off, or nothing graded, this says so instead of inventing a menu path.

Free, Plus, Pro and Ultra

Yes. Gamma has a self-serve setting.

In Gamma
  1. Click your avatar or initials in the lower-left corner of the Gamma dashboard.
  2. Select Settings, then open the Data Controls tab.
  3. Turn off the use of your data to train Gamma's AI models.

Free, Plus, Pro and Ultra only. Team, Business and Enterprise workspaces are excluded automatically and the setting is locked.

Team, Business and Enterprise workspaces

Nothing to switch off: Gamma's policy says training is off here.
